John’s Struggle

So I have now been in Kenya for almost two weeks and it has been just short of Amazing. I haven’t been able to take as many pictures as I would have liked to yet, but more will come with time.

I however have started working on a project about a young man named John who has suffered from epilepsy most of his life. Now 15, John has so much brain damage that he cannot talk nor walk. He has to crawl on his bottom everywhere he goes, which most of the time is no where far. It has also effected his growth as well and he is very small for his age.

To make matters worse his family can not afford to get him the care he needs. They live in a small shack that is barely big enough for John’s family.

His mother and two sisters are doing what they can to get by but John does not seem to be helping them out. I am hoping to raise some money to help with medical cost, so stay posted if you are thinking about donating anything. This will also be a ongoing project that I will be working on when here. So I will let you all know when to check back for more pictures.

San Diego

A few weeks back I took a trip to visit some friends in San Diego. Besides being sick for most of the trip I got out to take a few pictures when I was there.

I would also like to thank my friend Laurentine for our quick 15 minute portrait session at Coronado. She has done some modeling in the past so I basically pointed the camera while she did everything else. The light was awesome until the sun went down past the marine layer cloud which kinda screwed up the sunset. Oh well, but you have to love the orange light that a setting sun gives out.

Thanks Laurentine and I am sending you the pictures out tomorrow if you see this.

The rest of the pictures are from some beach volleyball and a portrait of Laurentine’s husband Adam.

Small World

Saw this little guy while shooting at a corn maze this morning.

I am finishing up editing pictures from San Diego, so I hopefully will post those pretty soon.

Friday Night Lights

High school football is in full swing and these are a few from the past few weeks.

I am headed to San Diego this week to visit some friends, so I will be posting some pictures from there once I get the chance. I have also started a new job outside the photography world, so my shooting has been limited to nights and weekends.

I would also like to mention for those of you who do not know, that come this January I will be moving to Kenya to pursue my photography along with volunteering. It was a tough decision but something I feel I need to do. I am not quite sure how long I will be over in Africa but I am hopping everything works out.

To Cool

This weekend I shot a event called “Bark for Life,” which is similar to Relay for Life, but people bring their dogs along to raise money for cancer. This German Shepherd named Anubis caught my eye with the sunglasses he was wearing.wa17barkforlife1web

It’s about Time

Figure it was about time that I start a blog, so here is a first attempt. These are a few pictures from a recent trip to Egypt and Israel. It was a great but very hot trip. I wish I would have had more time in both places to take more pictures. ENJOY.

I am also going to hopefully start updating once a week or so. We will see how that goes.
